Yaw Hosts Annual Breakfast Meeting on Agriculture

SHUNK, PA - Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) hosted his annual "Breakfast Meeting on Agriculture" on Thursday with dozens of participants representing agriculture and agribusiness in Bradford and Sullivan counties.

Held at the Endless Winds Fire Hall in Shunk, Sullivan County, attendees included Secretary Russell Redding of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, farmers, agribusiness professionals, FFA students, dairy royalty, teachers and elected officials.

"Each year, the discussion is intended to create a friendly dialogue and exchange of ideas on agricultural and environmental topics impacting our region," Yaw said. "The meeting is also designed to listen to concerns and answer questions. I am thankful to all of our attendees for joining us this year to help highlight important issues facing the industry."

The event also featured a discussion on farm legacy and succession planning led by PA Farm Link, a non-profit organization dedicated to forging connections that secure the future of farming in Pennsylvania.

"Farm succession is one of the most important topics facing our farmers today," said Michelle Kirk of PA Farm Link. "Things can change in the blink of an eye, so having a succession plan in place is vital for the continuance of your farm."

"I'm incredibly grateful for the event's generous sponsors, volunteers and speakers," Yaw added. "Your continued support and engagement are what make this annual gathering such a great tradition for our region's agricultural community."
