A Stronger Alliance: Lockheed Martin and Poland's Defense Industry
Lockheed Martin has reaffirmed its commitment to Poland's national defense through a series of significant investments and collaborations with the country's defense industry. Over the last decade, the company has invested $1.8 billion (USD) in Poland, sustaining more than 6,700 high-value jobs and cementing its position as a trusted partner for the country's national security.
One of the programs at the heart of Lockheed Martin's longstanding relationship with the Polish defense industry is the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) - the world's most advanced air defense missile. PAC-3 MSE is a core element of Poland's missile defense and is a vital part of the WISŁA air defense modernization program.
This summer, Lockheed Martin announced that Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia SA (WZU) had joined the PAC-3 MSE global supply chain. This partnership is already delivering real benefits to Poland and the U.S., combining transatlantic strengths to meet growing demand for advanced defence capabilities.
And earlier this year, Lockheed Martin received the first shipment of WZL-1 PAC-3 MSE Launch Tubes, a critical milestone in the WZL-1 partnership. The launch tubes will be used in PAC-3 MSE deliveries around the globe to protect what matters most.
Additionally, in partnership with WZL-1, WZU and WZE, four projects under the WISŁA offsets program were successfully completed, providing key systems for the PAC-3 MSE launcher and ground equipment.
Last year, Lockheed Martin and five Polish companies demonstrated their commitment to industrial development by signing agreements to support multiple projects that directly support the WISŁA offset program. The new projects created high-value manufacturing and engineering jobs in Poland and provided new areas of technology, training and technical assistance to the Polish defense industrial base.
"Lockheed Martin is proud to stand alongside Poland as a trusted partner in national security, delivering critical capabilities to enhance the country's and NATO's defense posture," said Robert Orzylowski, director of Poland and Central and Eastern Europe for Lockheed Martin. "Through our collaborative efforts with the Polish industrial base, we're not only strengthening Poland's industry, but also creating a pipeline of highly skilled jobs and unlocking new opportunities for Polish businesses to compete on the global stage."
Lockheed Martin's partnership with Poland's defense industry is a long-standing one, dating back to the company's establishment of an office in central Warsaw in 1996. Since then, the company has worked closely with the Polish Ministry of Defense on a variety of defense and security programs, including the development and production of advanced missile systems. The company's contribution to these programs is a core element of Poland's national defense and provides vital capabilities to the Polish Armed Forces.
Today, Lockheed Martin's in-country operations sustain more than 6,700 high-value Polish jobs, of which 1,500 are with aircraft manufacturer PZL Mielec, a Lockheed Martin company and one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in Poland and the largest Lockheed Martin production facility outside the United States. For over 87 years, the Mielec facility has been designing, manufacturing and servicing aircraft and helicopters. The company's investment in Poland has also helped to create a pipeline of highly skilled jobs and unlock new opportunities for Polish businesses to compete on the global stage.
As a trusted partner for Poland's national defense, Lockheed Martin is committed to continuing its collaboration with the Polish defense industry. The company's partnership with Poland is a testament to its commitment to delivering critical capabilities to enhance the country's and NATO's defense posture. Through its collaborative efforts with the Polish industrial base, Lockheed Martin is not only strengthening Poland's industry but also contributing to the country's economic growth and development.
