NJ TRANSIT ANNOUNCES SPECIAL RAIL SERVICE FOR FAR HILLS RACE MEETING

NEWARK, NJ - NJ TRANSIT is offering special rail service between Hoboken and Far Hills to transport customers to and from the 104th running of the Far Hills Race Meeting on Saturday, October 18. NJ TRANSIT's Far Hills Station on the Gladstone Branch of the Morris & Essex Lines is located directly across the street from Moorland Farms, the site of the event.

  • Please note that on October 18, Gladstone Branch trains will operate:

    • Westbound from Summit to Far Hills only from 8:14 a.m. until 1:14 p.m. (with more frequent service from approximately 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.)

      • Customers should note that most trains operating to Far Hills will originate in Hoboken. Please see schedule for details.

    • Eastbound from Far Hills to Summit/Hoboken from 3:59 p.m. until 7:03 p.m. (the last train will not depart before 7:03 p.m.)

  • At all other times, Lakeland bus service will replace Gladstone Branch trains.

  • All train service will terminate at Far Hills station. Frequent shuttle bus service (operated by Lakeland Bus Company) will operate between Gladstone, Peapack and Far Hills all day.

IMPORTANT NOTE : For this special event, customers are advised that NO BEVERAGES INCLUDING ALCOHOL, OPEN OR CLOSED, WILL BE PERMITTED on any train, bus or platform to and from Far Hills on Saturday, October 18. This policy will be strictly enforced.

To avoid lines, customers are strongly encouraged to purchase round-trip tickets in advance. Download NJ TRANSIT's mobile app . Customers boarding at Far Hills on October 18 without a valid ticket or pass will be required to purchase a special ticket prior to boarding the train for $20. The special ticket is valid until 11:59 p.m. on October 18 only for travel between Far Hills and any NJ TRANSIT rail station.

On October 18, ticket offices will be open during regular hours at Hoboken, Summit and Dover. The ticket office at Lyons will have special operating hours on October 18. Temporary ticket booths will be set up at Berkeley Heights, Bernardsville, Far Hills and Gladstone with special operating hours. See www.njtransit.com for specific times.

Customers should note that, as is normal for special events, capacity on trains can vary depending on when customers choose to travel. Customers should allow additional travel time and be patient if they cannot board the first train they encounter.
