Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson issued the following statement:
"On International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia, we are clear-eyed about the moment we're in. LGBTQ+ people around the world, including right here in the United States, are facing coordinated attacks on our health care, our rights, and our dignity. But democracy belongs to all of us. And as long as that's true, we have the collective power to fight back. We will not be erased. We will not be silenced. No matter how hard this moment gets, we are not going back."
The fight for equality is global: 64 countries still criminalize consensual same-sex relationships and only 24 UN member nations have legal gender recognition based on self-identification.
