The Department of Juvenile Justice conducted an annual inspection of the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center on August 19, 2025, pursuant to 730 ILCS 5/3-15-2(b). The Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center was found in compliance with sections and specific requirements of the 20 Ill. Adm. Code 2602 County Juvenile Detention Standards.
John Albright, Chief of Performance and Innovation of the Illinois Department of Juvenile conducted an annual inspection of the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center. This inspection included but was not limited to interviews with the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent of Compliance, Youth Detention Specialists, Mental Health Practitioner, two (2) Educators, Nurse, and four (4) Residents of the facility. Noteworthy areas of operation that were reviewed and detailed in the official report include: Admission Policy and Procedures, Detention Programs, Youth Discipline, Confinement, Youth Grievances, Medical Healthcare, Mental Health Services, and Education.
During the inspection and through publication, the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice identified no areas of non-compliance.
