City of Carrollton Development Services Plan Review Manager Edward Green received the Code Professional of the Year award from the Building Officials Association of Texas (BOAT).
This award honors individuals who provide service to protect public health, safety and general welfare as they relate to the construction, occupancy of buildings and structures, and maintenance of those structures and communities. Those eligible include, but are not limited to, permit technicians, plans examiners, inspectors, supervising inspectors, building officials, code enforcement officers, and fire officials. Nominations are accepted from a director, building official, mayor, or city manager.
"Ed consistently provides valuable leadership not only to his plan review team, but to the entire department, and brings great value to the City," Carrollton Development Services Director/Building Official Brett King said. "He is extremely knowledgeable in his field and very quickly researches any areas new to him."
King continued by saying Green approaches all issues with a healthy dose of common sense. He deals with the toughest of situations in a highly professional manner and patiently explains everything customers need to know.
"Ed is a rising star and a great example of the future of the building industry," King said. "I am proud to work with him every day."
The Building Professional Institute (BPI) in conjunction with the Building Officials Association of Texas (BOAT) provides quality education and training for all building professionals including architects, building officials, code enforcement, contractors, electricians, fire protection municipal inspectors, permit technicians, personnel, plumbers, real estate inspectors, and engineers and environmental health and safety personnel.
The award was presented in August at the BOAT Annual Conference in Montgomery.
