The European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, paid an official visit to Montenegro.
During her visit, the Commissioner met with numerous Montenegrin officials. At a press conference with the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, Kos stated that Montenegro is setting a strong example for countries in the region.
She emphasised that Montenegro must accelerate reforms, particularly in the rule of law. She added that the EU accession process must be supported by all political parties, civil society, and citizens.
The Commissioner also met with the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić.
"Parliament must be a place where differing opinions are channelled towards common solutions. Montenegro is in the final stage of its journey towards membership of the European Union. Joint efforts will lead you to your goal," she said.
During her stay in Montenegro, Kos also visited Nikšić.
At the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre Tehnopolis, Kos spoke with the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović, and Đorđije Malović, Executive Director of Tehnopolis.
The Ministry of Education stated that the topic of discussion was a presentation of Tehnopolis, which represents the heart of Montenegro's entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem, its mission, and key activities implemented in the previous period.
She also attended a meeting at the House of Digital Revolution, where representatives of the Nikšić 2030 ECoC Office, Mato Uljarević and Nemanja Popović, presented the vision for the city's development through culture, with particular emphasis on modernising infrastructure, enhancing cultural content, and strengthening international cooperation.
Kos also met with the Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, and his deputies, after which she visited several monuments in the capital. They walked through the city, from Independence Square to Njegoš Park, crossing the Morača River, where a pedestrian and cycling path is planned to connect Duklja with Lješkopoljska Gorica.
