Robyn Bloodsaw, a labor and delivery surgical technician at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville, poses for a photo with Matt Hanley, MD, president and CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS), after being named the health system's Carol H. Burrell Employee of the Year for 2026.

For nearly two decades, Robyn Bloodsaw, a labor and delivery surgical technician at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville, has been beside mothers as they deliver, and it's because of her dedication and compassion that she was recently named Northeast Georgia Health System's Carol H. Burrell Employee of the Year for 2026.

"Robyn's colleagues tell us there's something about her that makes everybody feel at ease," said Matt Hanley, MD, president and CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS). "She has a natural ability to read the room, ensuring the best possible experience for those in her care. Robyn is truly deserving of this award, as she lives our core values each and every day."

Known for her ability to anticipate needs and respond with intention, Bloodsaw often goes above and beyond to support both her patients and her colleagues. Whether it's playing peek-a-boo with a new baby's sibling to ease a stressful moment or offering a snack to bring comfort, Robyn works to create a supportive, reassuring environment for families during some of life's most important moments.

"I had no idea I would be receiving this award," Bloodsaw said. "It was a total shock, but it means so much to me. It's humbling to know that my work makes this much of an impact in my community and workplace."

Named for former NGHS president and CEO Carol H. Burrell, who led the organization through an era of unparalleled success and growth from 2011 - 2025, the Employee of the Year award is the highest honor an NGHS employee can receive. It is awarded to someone who NGHS defines as bringing their best every day and exemplifying the organization's core values and core competencies. Each year, the selection committee is tasked with selecting one of the system's Employees of the Month to receive the honor.

Along with Bloodsaw, NGHS honored more than 650 employees at its 55th Annual Service Awards celebration for their service, ranging from 10 to 40 years. To learn more about NGHS and how you can join the team, visit nghs.com/careers.
