On December 2, at 10:30 p.m., General Patrol officers, with assistance from Air1, successfully deployed a tire deflation device (Stop Stick) during the follow of a stolen 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix and arrested the driver, 34-year-old Shelton Edwin FONTAINE.
Shortly before 10:20 p.m., patrolling officers observed the Grand Prix being operated in the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Wall Street, and confirmed it had been reported stolen on November 30 in the 500 block of Gilmore Avenue. Air1 immediately took over the follow and maintained visual containment of the Grand Prix while advising ground units of its location.
North District General Patrol successfully deployed a Stop Stick at Logan Avenue and Cecil Street, bringing the Grand Prix to a stop. FONTAINE, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was extracted from the vehicle and placed under arrest. A canister of bear spray was visible within the vehicle and seized as evidence. Officers searched him and found 106 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $1225, a cellular phone, and $3,200 in cash.
FONTAINE is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
FONTAINE was detained in custody.
