State senators and assemblymembers, union leaders to speak, nurses, other union members and volunteers will canvass following rally

Union nurses with California Nurses Association (CNA) along with members of the South Bay AFL-CIO Labor Council will be holding a rally and canvass on Sunday, Nov. 2, to call on voters to vote Yes on Proposition 50, the redistricting measure.

CNA President Michelle Gutierrez Vo, RN and union leaders, including California Federation of Labor Unions President Lorena Gonzalez, along with California Senate President Pro Tempore Mike McGuire, Sen. Aisha Wahab, California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, and other elected leaders, will speak at the rally in support of Prop. 50. After the rally, the nurses will canvass San Jose voters to get out the vote for Prop. 50.

"Union nurses are committed to protecting our democracy and ensuring fair representation in our elections," said CNA President Michelle Gutierrez Vo, RN. "We need to have a level playing field in our elections, and that is what Prop. 50 will do. Elections matter. We saw what happened in July when the Republicans gutted Medicaid funding to give tax cuts for billionaires and corporations. We must protect our vulnerable patients and communities. This is why nurses support Prop. 50."
