September 11, 2025 Governor Patrick Morrisey Orders Flags Lowered, Requests Moment of Silence in Remembrance of September 11, 2001 ...
CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Today, Governor Patrick Morrisey issued a proclamation in remembrance of the terrorist attacks that took place in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, PA on September 11, 2001. Governor Morrisey ordered flags lowered to half staff at all state facilities and requested West Virginians observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 AM, the time at which the North Tower of the World Trade Center was struck.
"Today, we pause to honor the lives lost and forever changed on September 11, 2001 - the innocent victims, the brave first responders, and the families who carry the weight of that day in their hearts," said Governor Morrisey. "Through the years that have passed, the memory of their sacrifice remains as strong as ever. West Virginians stand resolute in our commitment to freedom, justice, and the enduring spirit of our nation."
