The electricity grid investment programme for 2025-2029 focuses on renewing, reinforcing and expanding Borlänge's distribution network. By laying around 55 kilometres of new cable each year and replacing older overhead lines, the project will support increased transmission capacity, improve operational reliability and reduce long-term maintenance needs.
In the water sector, the loan will support the expansion, and renewal works in Pusselbo, Repbäcken, Lennheden and Kyna. These projects aim to protect a nationally significant groundwater catchment, reduce water losses and enhance drinking water quality by connecting households currently relying on private wells and individual sewerage systems with the municipal network.
"These investments strengthen Borlänge's essential utility infrastructure by modernising the electricity grid and extending secure drinking water and wastewater services. The programme supports long-term operational reliability and ensures that critical public services remain resilient as the municipality grows," said André Küüsvek, NIB President and CEO.
Borlänge is the largest city in the Dalarna region and owns Borlänge Energi. Borlänge Energi offers services such as electricity, district heating, city network, water, sewer, and stormwater and wastewater management.
