The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Collegiate Farm Bureau kicked off the academic year with their first meeting with Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB) President Mark McHargue as the guest speaker. Held on September 11, the event brought new and returning members together that were eager to hear insights and inspirations from NEFB's leader.

In an engaging conversation, McHargue spoke about NEFB and all they do, from leadership to advocacy. McHargue was able to share insights about his personal leadership journey and how being the president of NEFB came to be. Not only did McHargue discuss his leadership journey, but he also touched on his grassroots connection of farming as a fourth-generation farmer near Central City.

Following his conversation, a Q&A session allowed students in attendance an opportunity to engage directly with President McHargue. Questions ranged from NEFB's policy stance on certain issues, leadership lessons and advice, and current issues in the agricultural industry. Students asked thoughtful and industry relevant questions, showing a deep interest not only in Farm Bureau, but the future of agriculture. President McHargue was able to respond to questions with transparency, while offering advice rooted in both his experiences and true optimism for the next generation of agriculture.

President McHargue's visit not only marked a strong start of the year, but it reminded student members the importance of being engaged and leading with a purpose, both in the field and beyond.
