CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Oct. 12, 2026) - Charlotte County Fire & EMS is teaming up with two local Domino's Pizza locations and the National Fire Protection Association to deliver more than just pizza during Fire Prevention Month. The partnership aims to raise awareness about the importance of working smoke alarms and encourage residents to take simple steps to protect their homes and families.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and Thursday, Oct. 15, customers ordering from participating Domino's locations may receive an unexpected delivery: their pizza accompanied by a Charlotte County Fire & EMS crew and fire engine.
Firefighters will offer to check the home's smoke alarms. If the alarms are working properly, Domino's will provide the pizza for free! If the alarms are not working, firefighters will replace the batteries or install new smoke alarms at no cost.
"Working smoke alarms are one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your family in the event of a fire," said Charlotte County Fire Chief Matthew McElroy. "This partnership with Domino's gives our crews a fun and unique opportunity to connect with residents, check smoke alarms and share important fire safety information."
The initiative is part of Fire Prevention Month, which this year highlights the theme "Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower." In addition to the smoke alarm checks, participating Domino's locations will place fire safety information on pizza boxes to help educate customers about safely purchasing, charging and recycling lithium-ion batteries.
"Being a part of this community means looking for ways to make a difference beyond pizza," said Al Farace, Port Charlotte Domino's franchisee. "We're excited to partner with Charlotte County Fire & EMS to not only promote the safety of our friends and neighbors but reward those who prioritize fire safety. We hope this program encourages families to check their smoke alarms and take a few simple steps to help keep their homes safe."

Residents interested in a chance to receive a special delivery can place an order by calling either participating location, visiting dominos.com or using the Domino's app. Deliveries will be randomly selected during the designated times.
Charlotte County Fire & EMS reminds residents to test their smoke alarms monthly, replace alarms that are 10 years old and ensure alarms are installed inside every bedroom, outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home.
Whether or not a fire engine shows up with your pizza, take a few minutes to check your smoke alarms. Those few minutes could save a life.
