JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -The extension of a large culvert under Interstate 70 and the outer roads near mile marker 134.8 will require the closure of a portion of North Outer Road 70 in Boone County, east of Columbia, beginning next week. The closure is expected to continue through February 2026.
As early as the morning of Sept. 25, crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, plan to close North Outer Road 70 at Little Cedar Creek (mile marker 134.8 on I-70). There will be no designated detour, but signs located well ahead of the closure will alert motorists to use an alternate route.
Before closing the north outer road at Little Cedar Creek, partial access to Callaway County Route J/Millersburg (Exit 137) will be restored. Pending any weather delays, the Route J ramp onto westbound I-70 could open the night of Sept. 24. The exit ramp from westbound I-70 to Route J will remain closed.
All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change.
