We're excited to welcome The Wilkins Company and Scherer Lock & Supply to the Sciens family of companies! Based in Erie and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, respectively, the two companies will join Sciens as the Sciens | Wilkins Division. Their addition marks an important next step in our growth across the Northeast and brings nearly 70 new colleagues to our team.
Wilkins becomes our fourth Pennsylvania-based company, strengthening the service and support we provide throughout the region. Since establishing our Northeast presence with the acquisition of Electronic Security Solutions in June 2020, Sciens has continued to grow across Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Maryland. With Wilkins and Scherer on board, Sciens will employ around 200 people in Pennsylvania.
Founded in 1981, The Wilkins Company delivers fire alarm, integrated security, A/V, communications, and door manufacturing and hardware solutions. Its customers span healthcare, K-12 education, commercial offices, multifamily, industrial, hospitality, government, and other markets. Wilkins is an EST/Gamewell/FCI fire alarm dealer, and its "starting at the door" mantra captures the breadth of its work: from doors and hardware to a complete package of fire, life safety, security, and communications services. This partnership creates meaningful opportunities on both sides. Customers will benefit from an even broader level of service, while Wilkins employees will gain new paths for career development and growth. Together, the teams will also help Sciens further deliver the complete offerings of our Sciens Service Suite (S3).
Over the coming weeks, the Wilkins team will integrate into Sciens. Their management team will remain in place and report into the Sciens Northeast Region. We recently welcomed Wilkins and Scherer employees to Sciens in an all-hands celebration, which you can view here. You can also read the full press release here.
With more than 2,500 employees across the United States, Sciens is continuing to grow with exceptional companies like Wilkins and Scherer-and we're not stopping anytime soon.
