After being abandoned with her five pups, this sweet mama dog needs a loving forever home

Mama Muffin, a sweet 4-year-old Labrador Retriever mix, has heterochromia-one blue eye and one brown eye-which makes her even more special.

She came to Mission Viejo Animal Services Center through our Mission for Home rescue program after being abandoned in Riverside. Along with her five puppies, Mama Muffin was placed with one of the center's experienced foster families.

Mama Muffin was a devoted mother to all her puppies (which have since been adopted) and a loving companion to everyone in the foster home. She has a big heart- figuratively and literally. Mama Muffin was recently diagnosed with a mild case of Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), a condition in which the main pumping chambers of the heart become stretched and enlarged, making it harder for blood to circulate properly. She is now on medication to manage this condition, and fortunately, it may be something she can overcome.

Despite her diagnosis, Mama Muffin remains a calm and gentle sweetheart, showing little impact on her spirit. Her heart is full of love, and she would thrive in a forever home ready to support and care for her through her healing journey.
