MADISON, Wis. (June 25, 2026) - In recognition of exceptional achievement, Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Office of Outdoor Recreation announced seven individuals and organizations as recipients of the 2026 Wisconsin Governor's Outdoor Industry Awards for their outstanding contributions to Wisconsin's outdoor recreation industry.
"In Wisconsin, we know our outdoor spaces are some of our state's greatest treasures. Whether it's hiking or biking a trail, embarking on a fishing or hunting trip, riding a UTV or enjoying time outside with family and friends, outdoor recreation is a big part of our way of life and an important part of our economy," said Gov. Evers. "The folks we're recognizing with these awards are helping make sure Wisconsin remains a top-notch destination for the outdoors. Their work is making a real difference in communities across our state, helping connect more people with the outdoors while supporting an industry that continues to grow."
Launched in 2025 and hosted by the Office of Outdoor Recreation, the Governor's Outdoor Industry Awards recognize outstanding achievements across Wisconsin's outdoor recreation industry, celebrating the people, projects and partnerships that are shaping its continued growth and success.
"These awards celebrate the people who see opportunities where others see challenges. Gov. Evers created the Wisconsin Office of Outdoor Recreation to serve as a central hub for the state's outdoor recreation industry within the Department of Tourism, working in close partnership with stakeholders across Wisconsin to strengthen and amplify Wisconsin as a premier outdoor recreation destination. Through collaboration, industry engagement and ongoing support for partners and communities, the Office serves as a connector across destinations, activities and businesses, providing resources and relationships that strengthen Wisconsin's $12 billion outdoor economy and enhance quality of life across the state.
"Wisconsin's outdoors are one of the top reasons folks visit, and for good reason," said Tourism Secretary Anne Sayers. "From our lakes and rivers to our trails, parks and outdoor experiences, we have an extraordinary outdoor product that wows visitors and leaves them with lasting memories. The Office of Outdoor Recreation helps amplify that strength by fostering collaboration, encouraging innovation and showcasing the leaders and organizations that are driving Wisconsin's outdoor industry forward."
Across seven categories, the Office received 66 nominations for individuals, destinations and organizations. Winners were announced and nominees were recognized at a special celebration on June 24.
