‘You Cannot Stop Learning’—Making Payments 2027 a Must-Attend

No one waves a wand and, voilà, another Smarter Faster Payments conference appears like magic. It takes a lot of hard work, no small part of which is done by the Conference Planning Committee. Having gone through a record of nearly 400 proposals, they've already done a ton of heavy lifting to make Smarter Faster Payments 2027 the industry's premier event-one you dare not miss.

"This year I'm really, really psyched about the sessions that we've accepted so far. And we've got a second round that's still to come, so I can't wait to see what else is out there," said Stephanie Prebish, AAP, AFPP, APRP, CTP, Nacha Senior Managing Director, Association Services.

"We'll have close to 130 sessions when all is said and done, and it's really difficult to pick your favorites, because they're all unique and they all offer a perspective that I think everybody can learn from," said Prebish. Among the big themes in store for next year: agentic commerce, digital identity, stablecoins, "and our AI track-it was not created by artificial intelligence, it's going to be unbelievable."

Coming April 11-14 to the Gaylord National Harbor Resort & Convention Center near Washington, D.C., Payments 2027 is a must-attend, given the rapid changes the payments industry is seeing.

"To be successful in this industry you cannot stop learning," said Lisa S. Coffey, Chief Innovation Officer at Corporate America Credit Union, a member of the Nacha Board of Directors, and chair of the 2027 Conference Planning Committee.

"I've been in this industry since 1988, and I have never seen things change as quickly as they have over the last five years. Since COVID, things have taken a huge accelerating turn," Coffey told Nacha's Payments SmartCast podcast.

"Payments are a huge part of the experience of your customers and your member base for your organization. And to retain deposits within your organization you have to have a good payments strategy," said Coffey, stressing that applies to financial institutions of all sizes. The sessions at Payments 2027, combined with the vendors in the exhibit hall and the opportunities to network with your peers, are invaluable, she said.

Whether you've never attended a Payments conference, or have been to dozens, Prebish and Coffey said missing out on 2027 would be a mistake.

"We are not the same conference every year," said Prebish. "We reinvent the content year over year over year."
