Murfreesboro is mourning the loss of Mrs. Elizabeth McPhee

Statement by Mayor Shane McFarland during Jan. 8, 2026, Council meeting on mourning the loss of Mrs. Elizabeth McPhee:

"On behalf of the entire City and the City Council, we want to lift the entire McPhee family up in our prayers after learning of the passing of Mrs. Elizabeth McPhee, longtime resident of Murfreesboro and the wife of Middle Tennessee State University President Sidney McPhee. We are thankful for what they have done for our community. Liz was a teacher at MCS Discovery School for many years and taught at Campus School. She has been part of our school system and part of our community. They will continue to be in our prayers."
