WTI Crude Oil futures surged on ongoing geopolitical tensions, including disruptions to Russian supplies and stalled Kurdish oil exports. The market was also supported by a larger-than-expected decline in U.S. crude inventories, as well as falling gasoline and distillate stocks, which pointed to tightening supplies. Meanwhile, Natural Gas futures bounced higher after hitting contract lows, supported by warmer weather forecasts for early October and a stronger winter supply-and-demand outlook.
