MTA Weekender: September 19-22 2025

Happy Friday! It's the last official weekend of summer, and the weather looks flawless, so whether you're heading to our own New York Transit Museum Bus Festival, the Brooklyn Book Festival, or anywhere else around the city and our region, we hope your weekend is as perfect as the weather.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  • trains aren't running to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St.
  • trains aren't running between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av.
  • trains aren't running between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Crown Hts-Utica Av or New Lots Av.
  • trains aren't running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
  • Uptown trains are running on the from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Center.
  • trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Sq-42 St and are running in two sections.
  • trains aren't running between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  • trains are running on the between 21 St-Queensbridge and 57 St-7 Av.
  • Staten Island Railway isn't running between Jefferson Av and Huguenot and is running in two sections.

Major subway service changes

trains, the Bronx

trains aren't running to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and 238 St.
  • trains are running between 238 St and South Ferry, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

trains, Brooklyn

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • trains aren't running between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av.
    • trains are running between Harlem-148 St and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and on the to/from Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College during the day and evening.
  • trains aren't running between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Crown Hts-Utica Av or New Lots Av.
    • trains are running between Woodlawn and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
  • During the day and evening, trains are running every 10 minutes.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, take trains.
  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av, take take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all stops.

trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr in either direction, and are running in two sections:

  • Between Norwood-205 St and 34 St-Herald Sq.
  • Between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
    • During late nights, trains are running express in both directions between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St.

This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take trains.
  • For service to/from W 4 St-Wash Sq and Broadway-Lafayette St, take the .
  • For service to/from Grand St, use nearby Canal St , East Broadway , or free T232 shuttle buses, which are running between W 4 St-Wash Sq, Broadway-Lafayette St, and Grand St.
  • During late nights for local service between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St, take the .

trains, Manhattan

Uptown trains are running on the from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Center from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, use nearby stations or take uptown trains.
    • Uptown trains are running local from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle all weekend.

trains, Manhattan and Queens

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Sq-42 St in either direction and are running in two sections:

  • Between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza.
    • At Queensboro Plaza, all trains are boarding from the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • Between Times Sq-42 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
    • trains are running express between 34 St-Herald Sq and Canal St in both directions.

This is because of communications work.

  • For service between Queens and Manhattan, take the .
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby 59 St .
  • For service to/from 57 St-7 Av and 49 St, take trains.
  • For local service between 34 St-Herald Sq and Canal St, take trains.
    • trains are running local in Manhattan all weekend.

trains, Brooklyn

trains aren't running between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take free B102 shuttle buses, which are running between Kings Hwy and Coney Island-Stillwell Av making all stops.
  • For direct service between Manhattan or Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take trains.

trains, Manhattan and Queens

trains are running on the between 21 St-Queensbridge and 57 St-7 Av in both directions, stopping at Roosevelt Island and Lexington Av/63 St, Saturday and Sunday. This is because of communications work.

  • For service to/from Queens Plaza, take the .
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby Lexington Av/63 St or 59 St .

Staten Island Railway

From 1:15 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday, trains aren't running between Jefferson Av and Huguenot and are running in two sections:

  • Between St George and Jefferson Av.
  • Between Huguenot and Tottenville.

This is because of structural maintenance.

  • For service between Jefferson Av and Huguenot, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all stops.

Other subway service changes

trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound trains aren't stopping at Jackson Av from 4:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday and trains aren't running between E 180 St and Bowling Green until 10 a.m. Sunday. This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from Jackson Av, take a Wakefield-bound train.

trains, Manhattan

Uptown and local trains are running express from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown local train.
  • During the day and evening, trains are running every 20 minutes and trains are running every 8 minutes while trains share the express track.

trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound trains are running nonstop from Hunts Point Av to 3 Av-138 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Pelham Bay Park-bound train.

trains, Brooklyn

Jamaica Center-bound trains are running nonstop from Myrtle Av to Broadway Jucntion from 4:45 p.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

Babylon Branch

Babylon Branch service is reduced and running on a revised schedule from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • Trains will run every hour during most of the day, and all trains will run to/from Penn Station.
    • For service to/from Grand Central, transfer at Jamaica.
  • To provide additional service at Babylon Station, many Montauk Branch trains have been extended to and from Jamaica.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

Greenport Service

Trains aren't running between Ronkonkoma and Greenport on Saturday and Sunday because of switch work.

  • For service between Ronkonkoma and Greenport, take shuttle buses, which are making all stops between these stations.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

Ronkonkoma Branch

Ronkonkoma Branch service is running on a revised schedule and is reduced east of Farmingdale from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Monday because of switch work.

  • Trains are running every hour between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma. During the day, every other train will run between Penn Station and Farmingdale only.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

West Hempstead Branch

West Hempstead Branch service isn't running between Valley Stream and West Hempstead in either direction from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Valley Stream and West Hempstead, take shuttle buses, which are making all stops between these stations.
  • West Hempstead Branch trains are running between Grand Central and Jamaica. Take a Long Beach Branch train to Valley Stream to connect with bus service.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.
