Cypress Designated Clean California Community

City of Cypress Earns Clean California Community Designation

CYPRESS, Calif. - The City of Cypress is proud to announce it has earned the designation as a "Clean California Community" through Caltrans' Clean California initiative. The recognition reflects Cypress' ongoing commitment to beautification, environmental stewardship and community pride. With this achievement, Cypress becomes one of only five cities in Orange County to earn the designation.

"Clean public spaces don't happen by accident, they happen because a community cares," said Mayor Leo Medrano. "This recognition reflects the pride our community takes in Cypress and the shared commitment of our City staff and community partners to preserving the environment that makes our City special."

The Clean California Community Designation Program is part of Gov. Gavin Newsom's $1.2 billion Clean California initiative, launched in 2021 by Caltrans to clean up, reclaim, transform and beautify public spaces throughout the state. The program was developed in partnership with Caltrans, Keep America Beautiful and Keep California Beautiful.

To earn the designation, communities must complete at least 10 of 15 criteria focused on litter reduction, beautification and environmental stewardship. Cypress met the criteria through ongoing cleanup efforts, beautification projects, public education initiatives and community partnerships that support a cleaner and more vibrant community.

As part of the recognition, the City will receive Clean California Community signage, educational resources, membership with Keep California Beautiful and recognition in statewide Clean California promotional materials.
