Go Green: Workshops Offer Insights on Composting and Rain Barrels



NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (May 19, 2026) - The New Brunswick Department of Public Works has announced a series of free "Go Green" workshops focused on composting and water conservation, scheduled for June 13.

The event will feature rolling sessions on "Composting" and "Rain Barrel 101," with workshops lasting 15 to 20 minutes each. The sessions will run continuously from 9-11 a.m. at the Department of Public Works, 400 Jersey Ave.

Local experts will lead the instruction, including a Middlesex County Master Gardener for the composting sessions and a New Jersey Watershed Ambassador for the rain barrel training.

Residents who pre-register for the event are eligible to receive a free Earth Machine composter or a rain barrel for their home or garden. The initiative is part of the "New Brunswick Recycles" program, supported by the AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassadors and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
