BEIJING, May 19 -- Chinese authorities have allocated 30 million yuan (about 4.38 million U.S. dollars) to southwest China's Guizhou Province following severe flooding and geological disasters that caused heavy casualties and property losses, the National Development and Reform Commission announced Tuesday.
The funds will mainly support the restoration of key infrastructure, including damaged roads, water conservancy projects and public service facilities, to restore normal life and production in the affected areas as soon as possible.
To address the gravity of the situation, China's national commission for disaster prevention, reduction and relief on Tuesday activated a Level-IV disaster relief emergency response for Guizhou.
