General Order on Government Shutdown Due to Lapse in Appropriations

Pursuant to the attached General Order dated October 1, 2025, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit will continue to operate during any government shutdown caused by a lapse in appropriations. In accordance with Judicial Conference policy, the court will continue all activities necessary to the exercise of the judiciary's constitutional functions.

Case-management deadlines will not be automatically extended due to a shutdown. Parties remain obligated to timely comply with such deadlines and all requirements of the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure and the Tenth Circuit Rules, but the court will consider on a case-by-case basis requests for extensions of time or for other relief necessitated by a government shutdown.

All calendared oral arguments scheduled to take place via Zoom on October 15, 2015 and in-person during the court's November 2025 term of court will proceed as scheduled, but in-person arguments may be transitioned to Zoom in the absence of a continuing resolution or full-year appropriation.
