UniCredit wins four Euromoney Transaction Banking Awards across its core European markets

● Pan-European bank named Best Transaction Bank in Italy, Germany and Romania, as well as Best Transaction Bank in Central and Eastern Europe

● Awards recognise the Group's leading capabilities across Trade Finance, Cash Management and Payments

UniCredit has been recognised for the strength of its transaction banking franchise across Europe, winning four awards at the Euromoney Transaction Banking Awards 2026:

  • Central and Eastern Europe's Best Transaction Bank
  • Italy's Best Transaction Bank
  • Germany's Best Transaction Bank
  • Romania's Best Cash Management Bank

In addition, UniCredit Bulbank was also named Best FX Bank in Bulgaria at the Euromoney Foreign Exchange Awards in October.

The awards recognise the strength of UniCredit's Trade Finance & Correspondent Banking and Payments product factories, as well as its broad and deep coverage network across Europe. Combining the Group's pan-European scale with deep local market expertise, the bank continues to invest in innovative solutions that help businesses manage payments, liquidity and trade flows more efficiently across the continent.

On the trade finance side, the bank has made significant strides in the digitalisation of the trade finance business. Over the past year, the bank further expanded its Trade Finance Gate platform across Central and Eastern Europe, while strengthening client adoption in Western Europe, with around 90% of onboarded customers using the platform as their primary access point for Trade Finance services. Meanwhile, the bank has continued to accelerate the digitalisation of other traditionally paper-based processes through solutions like GuaranteeNow (for guarantees) and Trade Finance OCR (for document processing). The latter now supports more than 90% of the bank's letters of credit business in Italy, Germany and Austria, delivering a faster, more transparent and more efficient experience for clients.

Francesca Nenci, Head of Trade Finance & Correspondent Banking at UniCredit, said:

"This recognition reflects the progress we have made in combining the strength of our pan-European footprint with innovative digital solutions and deep product expertise. In an uncertain world where financing certainty is at a premium, we have been helping clients transact with confidence, while ensuring greater speed and transparency through our highly digitalised service model. We are proud of what we have achieved and will continue to stand by our clients, helping them manage complexity, mitigate risk and keep business moving across borders."

On the Payments & Cash Management front, the bank has continued to expand PayFX, which now provides clients with access to payments and foreign exchange services in more than 100 currencies. At the same time, it has been modernising its payments infrastructure across Central and Eastern Europe. All of this is leading to a more integrated and harmonised payments ecosystem across the region, enhancing the bank's ability to serve clients operating across multiple markets, while supporting greater consistency, resilience and innovation across its payments offering.

Alberto Palombi, Head of Group Payments Solutions at UniCredit, said:

"Our ambition is to become every European client's first choice for payments. By continuing to expand our international payment capabilities and modernise our infrastructure across key markets, we are creating a more integrated payments ecosystem that combines pan-European reach with local expertise. This is helping us deliver the reliability, transparency and consistency that clients expect when operating across multiple markets, and we are delighted to see these efforts recognised by Euromoney."
