BANGKA -- The Taman Sari area is one of the assets of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk that continues to demonstrate its role as a multifunctional public space, providing tangible benefits to the community in Bangka Regency.
Not only serving as a favorite location for exercise, Taman Sari is also utilized as a center for educational activities and health services. This was evident during the "Friday Clean-Up Gotong Royong" organized by the Engineering Operation Excellence Division of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk in collaboration with the Bangka Regency Environmental Agency (DLH), Lanal Babel, Bakti Timah Hospital (RSBT) Sungailiat, and the Timah Employees' Wives Association (IIKT) Sungailiat at the Taman Sari area, Bangka Regency, Friday (April 10, 2026).
A number of residents were seen making use of the jogging track for their regular exercise routines. Taman Sari has long been known as one of the community's favorite spots to maintain fitness, whether through jogging or other physical activities.
Restu, one of the residents who regularly exercises at Taman Sari, said he uses the facility almost every day. According to him, environmental cleanliness plays an important role in supporting exercise activities.
"I jog here almost every morning. When the environment is clean, it feels much more comfortable," he said.
A similar sentiment was expressed by Mifta, who noted that Taman Sari has long been a preferred location for the community to exercise, both in the morning and in the afternoon.
In addition to being used for public exercise, Taman Sari also serves as a venue for educational activities, one of which is an elementary school (SD) cluster-level athletics selection. This activity is part of the process of selecting athletes who will advance to the sub-district and eventually district/city levels.
One of the athletics coaches, Irman Kurniadi, also known as Pak Ir, explained that the selection covers several sports, including athletics, swimming, gymnastics, karate, and badminton.
"This selection is at the cluster level. The results will then be brought to the sub-district level, and later continue to the district level," he said.
According to him, the Taman Sari area has long been utilized by the community for various activities, even before it was developed into what it is today.
Today, the facility is also frequently used for school activities by various institutions across different education levels, from elementary to high school in the Sungailiat area.
During the Friday Clean-Up Gotong Royong held at Taman Sari, free health services were also provided, such as blood pressure (tension) and blood sugar checks. These services were warmly welcomed by residents who were active in the area.
The presence of health services alongside the clean-up activity makes it easier for the community to monitor their health conditions directly while engaging in physical activities. It also encourages greater awareness of the importance of maintaining health from an early age.
"Gotong royong is carried out almost every Friday. The children also take part in helping clean the environment," added Pak Ir.
The community hopes that Taman Sari will continue to be well-managed and further developed as a clean, comfortable public space with adequate facilities to create a green and pleasant environment. (*)
