Water Main Incident Near Cuesta Park - 4/26/26 Update

11:10 a.m. Sunday, April 26, Update: As of this morning, approximately two-thirds of the 67 homes affected by the water main incident near Cuesta Park have their water turned back on for toilet flushing only.

City of Mountain View water utility crews continue to go door-to-door to speak with the affected residents to provide instructions for flushing household plumbing before turning on the water. Only toilet flushing is allowed.

The affected households are not to use tap water for drinking, cooking, hand washing, or bathing until further notice. Toilet flushing only is allowed.

If the resident is not present when City crews come by, they should contact 650-903-6081 to have their water turned on.

The crews remain onsite, flushing the system and conducting water quality testing. As of Sunday morning, the comprehensive drinking water safety testing is not expected to be completed until at least Monday, April 27. The City is working closely with the State Water Resources Control Board regulators to restore safe drinking water as soon as possible.

Friday's water main incident, near the intersection of Bonita Avenue and Cuesta Drive, involved a City contractor working on a water main replacement and upgrades project. There was a contamination breach with some cement slurry mix getting into a water main, which required the water supply in the affected area to be shut off.
