Yaw, Pickett: Funding Awarded to Recreation Projects in Bradford County

HARRISBURG - State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Tina Pickett (R-110) announced $783,500 has been awarded to recreation projects in Bradford County through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' (DCNR) Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).

"Investing in our local parks and recreation facilities enhances quality of life and strengthens our communities," Yaw said. "These improvements will provide families and residents with safe, modern spaces to enjoy for years to come and I'm thankful to Rep. Pickett for working with me to secure this funding."

"This investment will improve our community spaces for years to come," said Pickett. "Residents should benefit from creating more outdoor recreational opportunities like the added walkways, pavilion and play equipment."

Towanda Borough was awarded $621,000 for the rehabilitation and further development of the Third Ward Playground. Work will include construction of a pedestrian walkway, comfort station and pavilion, as well as the installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing, benches, fencing, lighting and ADA access.

Additionally, Wyalusing Township was awarded $162,500 for the development of Wyalusing Township Park. Work will include construction of pedestrian walkways, internal loop trail and parking area, as well as the installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing and ADA access.

The C2P2 is funded with a variety of state and federal funding sources, including the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), which includes Key-Community and Key-Land Trust; the Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF); the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF); Pennsylvania Trails Fund (PRT - federal source); Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA); and the ATV Restricted Management Account Fund (ATV).
