(Towson, MD) - Maryland Congressman Johnny Olszewski issued the following statement today following Maryland House Speaker Adrienne Jones's announced resignation from her leadership role:
"Adrienne Jones never sought headlines or the spotlight. Instead, she has led with a steady, unassuming hand - an approach that has proven remarkably effective, from securing constitutional protections for women's healthcare to helping steer the state through a global pandemic.
We are grateful for her willingness to listen, her talent for turning vision into action, and her refreshing candor. I am equally grateful that, even as she steps down from her leadership role, she will continue to serve our shared constituents with the same dedication and integrity as a state delegate.
Although she made history as Maryland's first Black and first female House Speaker, I am lucky to also know her as a friend and mentor who took me under her wing as a young legislator. Maryland is undoubtedly a better place because of Speaker Jones."
