"After months of waiting, President Trump today denied our request for a Major Disaster Declaration following the blizzard that pummeled New York City, Long Island and the Mid-Hudson in February of this year.
"Many areas of our state endured dangerously cold temperatures, high winds and record snowfall throughout the duration of the storm - some areas of Nassau and Suffolk Counties saw nearly three feet of snowfall in one day.
"Our first responders, plow drivers, emergency management staff and local government partners put their lives on the line and worked tirelessly throughout the storm to keep New Yorkers safe. As a result, our State and local government incurred tremendous costs due to this historic storm.
"New York's communities - from Long Island to New York City and the Hudson Valley - deserve to have access to every resource available to recover and rebuild. Instead they have a President who is turning his back on his home state.
"I will always fight on behalf of New Yorkers to ensure those eligible can access every possible federal dollar to recover from unprecedented storms. We will appeal to ensure New Yorkers receive the federal assistance they deserve."
