Doyle Named UW Staff Employee of Third Quarter

An outstanding communicator who has lifted the public profile and internal cohesion of the University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences has been named UW's Staff Employee of the Third Quarter.

Marketing and Communications Specialist Michaela Doyle, a UW Institutional Marketing employee embedded in the College of Arts and Sciences, will be honored in a public reception -- hosted by Staff Senate and the President's Office -- Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 10-11 a.m. in the Arts and Sciences Building lobby.

"Michaela excels at communication in all its forms. Her writing is not only clear and persuasive, but also engaging and thoughtful, ensuring that the voice of our college is represented with accuracy, warmth and professionalism," a colleague wrote. "Whether drafting stories that highlight student success, preparing materials to support faculty achievements, or developing outreach pieces for donors and community members, she approaches each project with exceptional skill and attention to detail."

The Staff Employee of the Quarter Award recognizes a UW staff member for efforts toward excellence in the workplace. Established in March 1985 to recognize outstanding staff members as the Employee of the Month Award, the award was revised into the current program in January 1990. The award is given to one current UW staff member every calendar quarter. The staff employee of the year will be named at Staff Senate's Recognition Day next spring.

In her role with Institutional Marketing and the College of Arts and Sciences, Doyle handles a range of duties, including website work; production of media releases, posters, programs, invitations and the college's Elevations magazine; social media management; and development of student recruitment materials.

"Michaela has consistently worked to strengthen communication channels between her office and the 13 A&S department heads. These relationships are so important, as they provide information essential to the college marketing, including performances, speakers and honors events," a colleague wrote. "Without exception, our department heads know they can reach out to Michaela, and she will provide the necessary avenues for information distribution and dissemination."

"Her creativity and willingness to help out have made her an indispensable part of the college's team," another colleague wrote. "Not only has she helped with recruiting students, but the online presence she has cultivated has helped with recruiting staff to open positions within our college. The materials that she has helped create across the college are invaluable and help to set us up for future success."

Doyle's demeanor also draws praise from her colleagues.

"Through her work with the individual departments and the Dean's Office, she has helped our college connect and engage better with the university as a whole, creating unity and community," one co-worker wrote. "She is one of the kindest individuals I have ever met. She makes campus a better place not just through her wonderful work ethic and attention to detail, but also through her kindness and positive attitude."

"Her professionalism is unmatched, and she always delivers products that exceed expectations and are completed prior to any deadline," another nominator wrote. "Her work has brought the college's marketing efforts to the next level. She is in a unique dual reporting position, where she reports to a unit outside of the college she serves. While this can be a challenge, she has found a way to turn this into a strategic advantage by bridging communication and aligns goals across both entities."

Doyle says she's "truly honored" to receive the award.

"In my dual-report role with the College of Arts and Sciences and Institutional Marketing, I'm fortunate to collaborate with two incredibly talented and supportive teams," she says. "I'm humbled that the wonderful people I work with took time to nominate me. I love having the opportunity to help share all the great work happening across the college."

An Employee of the Quarter nominee can be any UW staff employee, and each must receive three nomination forms from three separate individuals. Nominations must be submitted to the Staff Senate office. Forms can be found here.
