China's coffee market is estimated at $42 billion in 2024, with consumption exceeding 240,000 metric tons, an increase of nearly 150 percent over the past decade. Consumption growth is expected to remain strong at approximately 15 percent annually, positioning China among the fastest-growing coffee markets globally. U.S. exports of specialty unroasted coffee beans to China increased by 110 percent in volume in 2024, reflecting rising demand for high-quality specialty beans, distinct varietals, and premium coffee products. E-commerce remains an important potential distribution channel for U.S. high-end specialty beans going direct to boutique firms or consumers. The expanding market is also creating new opportunities for U.S. suppliers of dairy, dairy alternatives, and flavored coffee ingredients.
