IB 26-19: NMFS Prohibits Directed Fishing for Pollock in Statistical Area 630 in the Gulf of Alaska

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is prohibiting directed fishing for pollock in Statistical Area 630 (between 147 degrees and 154 degrees W. longitudes) in the Gulf of Alaska, effective 12 noon, Alaska local time, April 8, 2026, according to Jonathan M. Kurland, Regional Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2026 A season pollock TAC in Statistical Area 630 in the Gulf of Alaska and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(1)(iii).

While this closure is effective the maximum retainable amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.
