At Dallas Love Field, community relations is all about action. We recently partnered with local neighbors to erect a new historical marker on the 6700 block of Mabel Avenue, honoring the legacy of one of Dallas's very first municipal golf courses.
It has been an unforgettable summer at DAL! Between welcoming global soccer fans for the FIFA World Cup and hosting a talented group of summer campers and interns, our team has been moving at full speed. Through it all, providing a warm, world-class welcome to our guests is what we do best.

DAL Welcomes Millions for FIFA World Cup
Dallas Love Field helped lead the welcome party as the world arrived in North Texas for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
To ensure every guest felt the love, airport staff and volunteers completed specialized cultural sensitivity training. The terminal was transformed into the ultimate soccer hub, featuring immersive World Cup-themed displays, live game showings, and fan activation stations.
"Dallas hosted more matches than any of the other host cities, and we were honored to help welcome the global audience," Aviation Director Patrick Carreno said. "We created an experience that represents Dallas on the world stage."

DAL is the Ultimate Summer Spot for Young Aviators
From college interns to local summer campers, Dallas Love Field exposes tomorrow's leaders to the exciting world of aviation through our robust internship and summer camp programs.
This summer, we welcomed a talented cohort of students and recent graduates eager to gain hands-on industry experience. We also hosted about 40 boys from the Kappa Kamp mentorship program, returning for a highly anticipated second consecutive year of immersive learning.
"The experience helps the youngsters realize that an aviation career is well within their reach," Community Engagement Manager Rozalind Dickerson Cleaver explained.

Historic Hilliard Golf Course Dedication Ceremony
Dallas Love Field joined community members, golf enthusiasts, historians, civic leaders, and descendants of local golf pioneers on June 13 to celebrate an important chapter in American sports history. In recognition of Juneteenth, the historic Hilliard Golf Course dedication ceremony, officially honored a once-forgotten municipal landmark.
Located in the 6700 block of Mabel Avenue near the airport, DAL played an active role in erecting a new historical marker to preserve the legacy of one of the first municipal golf courses created specifically for African Americans in the U.S. and the first of its kind in the South.
Career Days and Airport Tours
The Community Engagement team continuously visits local schools and gives students an up-close look at different aviation career paths. The team also hosts students and community members at the airport for behind-the-scenes tours.
