Osaic is embracing a platform-agnostic technology and custodial strategy to stay ahead of its competitors, according to President and Head of Advisor Growth Shannon Reid.
The firm hired Reid last December from Raymond James, where she had spent nearly two decades, most recently serving as president of the firm's Independent Contractor Division. Reid's hiring was concurrent with the firm's "Journey to One" strategy that involved rebranding as Osaic from its previous Advisor Group name and uniting its eight legacy broker-dealers, a strategy initially announced in April 2023. Osaic in 2024 also acquired the wealth management business of Lincoln Financial Group.
In an interview with FA-IQ, Reid said that advisors tend to move to the registered investment advisor space because of "a perception that they have more independence and control in an independent RIA than they might have at an independent broker-dealer." She went on to say that this trade-off "doesn't have to exist" at Osaic, given the firm's open architecture technology platform and multicustodial relationships.
