Burnsville, May 13 - Following House passage of H.R. 1346, the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, which allows for nationwide, year-round E15 access, Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association (MN Bio-Fuels) Executive Director Brian Werner issued the following statement:
"Washington D.C. is finally catching up to what drivers in Minnesota already know: E15 is a ready-made solution to high gas prices. House passage of the E15 legislation on a bipartisan vote of 218 - 203 is a meaningful step toward fixing an outdated regulatory gap that has limited access to a lower-cost, lower-emission fuel option for far too long.
The strain that rising fuel prices are placing on families, farmers, and businesses cannot be ignored. Misinformation and antiquated myths about ethanol should not prevent further action on commonsense solutions like year-round E15. Allowing year-round access to E15 is an immediate, practical way to provide meaningful relief. We've seen this play out in Minnesota. E15 is consistently priced lower than traditional gasoline and delivers real savings at the pump. Consumers deserve choice and access to a cleaner, more affordable fuel, and year-round E15 makes that possible.
We thank the bipartisan coalition of Minnesota House delegation members that came together to champion this issue and vote for lower gas prices and strong rural communities. We now urge the Senate to quickly take similar action."
A recent study from MN Bio-Fuels underscores that impact. The analysis found Minnesota drivers saved $24.7 million in 2024 alone by choosing E15, with $79.5 million in cumulative savings since 2013. E15 has consistently been priced lower than traditional gasoline, providing a reliable, lower-cost option for consumers.
