Denver Clerk & Recorder Staff Achieve Union Certification

On September 9, the American Arbitration Association officially certified Teamsters Local 455 as the exclusive bargaining representative for eligible employees within the Denver Clerk & Recorder's office. The certification follows a collaborative effort throughout the summer by staff members who sought collective bargaining rights.

"Our staff as well as those across the city work tirelessly every day to keep Denver running, and they deserve every opportunity to advocate for their pay, benefits and respect in the workplace," said Clerk and Recorder Paul López. "With great pride I congratulate and welcome Teamsters Local 455 to the bargaining table and look forward to a successful process that benefits our team and the people of Denver whom we serve."

Prior to his time in elected office, López was a labor organizer organizing janitors and nurses in metro Denver.

With union certification officially complete, the City's labor relations team is shifting its focus toward preparing for negotiations on a collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local 455. Both parties aim to implement the official collective bargaining agreement in January 2027.

The Denver Clerk & Recorder's office looks forward to working alongside its labor partners to establish a comprehensive contract that supports its employees, enhances operational excellence, and strengthens the office's ongoing mission to serve the residents of Denver.
