Rooted in Community: ARH Connects with Future Physicians This Residency Fair Season

Residency fair season is one of our favorite opportunities to connect with future physicians, share what makes training at ARH special, and celebrate our shared commitment to serving the communities we call home.

Representatives from ARH Graduate Medical Education and the Internal Medicine Residency Program enjoyed meeting medical students at residency fairs hosted by the University of Pikeville, Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (UPIKE-KYCOM) and Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) during the week of October 14.

Dr. Bart Francis, Internal Medicine Residency Program Director, was joined by third-year residents Dr. Caitlyn Quick, Dr. Tanton Cook, and Dr. McKenzie Nickles. Together, they shared their experiences and answered questions about training at ARH. Program Coordinators Heather Wilson and Jessica Collins and Physician Recruiter Vada Miller also connected with students to share information about ARH.

GME leadership was represented by Tammy Allen, Senior Director of GME and Designated Institutional Official; Melody Howard, GME Administrator; and Mason Hall, GME Coordinator.

We were proud to highlight ARH's commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive training environment where residents can learn, grow, serve our communities, and become part of the ARH family.

About Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH)
Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) traces its roots back to 1955, when the United Mine Workers of America opened the Miners Memorial Hospital system - a network of 10 hospitals dedicated to providing care throughout the coalfields of eastern Kentucky and southern West Virginia. Seventy years later, ARH has grown into a 14-hospital not-for-profit health system that serves more than 500,000 residents of central Appalachia each year. ARH hospitals in Barbourville, Harlan, Hazard, Hyden, Martin, McDowell, Middlesboro, Paintsville, Prestonsburg, West Liberty, Whitesburg, and South Williamson in Kentucky, and Beckley and Hinton in West Virginia, ensure that residents, tucked away in even the most remote areas, can access the highest quality of care without traveling hours from home. ARH's hospitals, clinics, multi-specialty physician practices, home health agencies, home medical equipment stores, retail pharmacies, and medical spas boast more than 6,700 employees with a network of more than 1,300 providers, making it the single largest employer in southeastern Kentucky and the third-largest private employer in southern West Virginia.
