SIIA Supports DOE Partnerships to Advance Transformational AI Models for Science

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), as a member of the Accelerate Science Now coalition, supports new approaches for how the U.S. Department of Energy can partner with industry to develop transformational artificial intelligence models for science and engineering. In a recent response to the Department of Energy's Request for Information, the coalition outlines recommendations for structuring public-private consortia that responsibly curate, govern, and scale access to AI-ready scientific data across the National Laboratory system.

The letter emphasizes a project-first partnership model, strong data governance, privacy-preserving AI techniques, and secure infrastructure for advanced and self-improving AI systems. It also highlights priority application areas such as biomanufacturing and underscores the importance of open, interoperable data standards to accelerate innovation while safeguarding national security and public trust.
