Dallas City Council Approves DART Collaboration Agreement

DALLAS-The Dallas City Council today adopted an interlocal agreement with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) that allows the City and DART to collaborate on transit-oriented development and economic growth around DART's transit network within the Dallas City limits.

The agreement establishes a coordinated framework for identifying opportunities near DART stations, transit facilities, and service corridors. The City and DART will work together to encourage mixed-use development, improve access to transit, and connect residents, workers, businesses, and visitors to key destinations throughout Dallas.

The effort will also seek to leverage DART's existing and future transportation assets to support housing, jobs, commercial activity, and equitable access to opportunity.

"By aligning land use, transportation, and economic development strategies around our transit network, we can generate greater tax revenue, attract and retain jobs, and strengthen neighborhoods across Dallas," Dallas City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert said.

The partnership focuses on DART providing a direct investment in the development and redevelopment of one or more City-created tax increment reinvestment zones near DART facilities, ensuring that public and private investments deliver long-term benefits for residents, businesses, and visitors.
