Meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe

On May 15, in Chișinău, on the sidelines of the 135th Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan had a meeting with Michael O'Flaherty, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe.

During the meeting, the interlocutors commended the effective cooperation between Armenia and the Council of Europe. The Deputy Foreign Minister reaffirmed the commitment of Armenia to implementing an ambitious agenda of democratic reforms and presented the steps being undertaken by the Government of Armenia, including in the field of the protection of human rights.

The programs aimed at addressing the long-term needs of the Armenian refugees from Karabakh were touched upon and in this context, the importance of ensuring their continuity was underscored.

The interlocutors exchanged views on recent regional developments. The need for the further institutionalization of peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan was emphasized, as was the importance of addressing pending issues of a humanitarian nature.
