Denmark and the Faroe Islands will host the annual summer meeting of the Nordic prime ministers in Copenhagen on Thursday 20 August. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will represent Finland at the meeting.
Topics on the agenda for the meeting include security, defence, new technologies and the role of the Nordic countries in a new security environment. The ministers will also discuss the regulation of technology companies and its effects on children and young people.
"The Nordic countries are Finland's closest partners. Our shared priority is the security of our region, and we continue to deepen our cooperation across a wide range of areas," said Prime Minister Orpo.
The Nordic prime ministers meet annually for a summer meeting organised by the country holding the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers. The summer meeting will take place at the Høvelte Barracks located in Birkerød near Copenhagen and at the Danish Prime Minister's official residence, Marienborg. The discussion on technology will begin with a talk by social psychologist and professor Jonathan Haidt from New York University.
