Contra Costa County and Marin County - Caltrans engineers and electrical crews will carry out overnight federally mandated bridge inspections and light repairs on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (I-580), implementing the closure of Lane #1 on the westbound upper deck Friday, September 18, 2026, 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., the following morning. The closure extends from the Toll Plaza to the Marin County line; but westbound Lane #2 and the bike path will remain accessible.
Caltrans appreciate the public's patience as we work to ensure the integrity of the roadway.

Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will alert drivers of closure. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed, plan to merge, and allow extra travel time.
