The goal of Boise State's First-Year Focus initiative is to elevate and connect first-year student support across Academic Affairs. Instructors of Foundations of the Discipline are invited to engage in this work by participating in the First-Year Focus Breakfast event, 9 a.m. to noon on April 17.
This event provides time and space for Foundations of the Discipline instructors to share and develop strategies. These efforts ensure every student experiences a "relentless welcome" during their first year, receiving the support needed to develop the confidence and academic self-efficacy required for success. Whether instructors teach Foundations of Arts, Math, Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities, this gathering is designed for all relevant faculty.
The First-Year Focus Breakfast is more than a professional development opportunity - it is a celebration of faculty work, a moment of recognition, and a powerful reminder of the key role instructors play in student success at Boise State.
Easily register for the event using Campus Groups. Space is limited, so registrations are being accepted based on the registration date; if need be, a waiting list will be created. Questions about registration can be directed to Teresa Focarile with the Center for Teaching and Learning ([email protected]).
