Laurie Trautman, director of WWU's Border Policy Research Institute, will present "Borders and the Political Theatre of 'Crises'" on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at noon in the Fairhaven Auditorium as part of Fairhaven's World Issues Forum speaker series.

The event is free and open to the public and entire campus community.

This talk will focus on how borders have been used to respond to a variety of 'emergencies' with a particular focus on the Canada - U.S. border in our own backyard.

The World Issues Forum is Western Washington University's human rights and global justice speaker series. The WIF challenges students, faculty, staff, and community members to be active and engaged global citizens. Distinguished guest speakers address urgent global justice topics including planetary survival; decolonization and anti-racism; human rights; migrations; and the world economy.
