SANDAG Bike Anywhere Day Returns Thursday, May 21

May is national bike month; register for Bike Anywhere Day or host a pit stop

In celebration of National Bike Month, SANDAG invites the San Diego region to participate in Bike Anywhere Day from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 21. SANDAG has hosted the annual biking event in the region for more than 30 years. Bike Anywhere Day aims to alleviate traffic and reduce air pollution while promoting biking as a fun, sustainable, and healthy transportation choice.

Bike Anywhere Day is a free event open to everyone. It encourages participants of all ages to bike to work, school, or anywhere. Participants can pedal to one of the 100 pit stops across the region to pick up a free commemorative Bike Anywhere Day 2026 t-shirt and enjoy a quick break with refreshments and snacks, while supplies last.

This year, eligible registrants will be automatically entered into the Bike Anywhere Day Sweepstakes for a chance to win one of five e-bikes, courtesy of Ridepanda.

Organizations can get involved with the annual event and show their support for sustainable transportation by applying to host a pit stop. Pit stop hosts are responsible for setting up and staffing a table for the duration of the event, creating a fun atmosphere for event participants, and distributing SANDAG-provided t-shirts and materials. Pit stop applications are open now through Tuesday, March 31.

Bike Anywhere Day is an opportunity to explore the more than 1,800 miles of bikeways in the San Diego region. SANDAG currently has 18 miles of bikeways under construction and is expected to break ground on 5 more miles in the next two years.
