Empire State Development (ESD) today joined Caribbean Food Delights, local leaders, and members of the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council to celebrate the completion of a $17 million expansion project at the company's frozen food manufacturing facility in Tappan, Rockland County. The project included facility upgrades and investments in new machinery and equipment, strengthening the company's operations while supporting the creation of 45 new full-time positions and the retention of 130 jobs.

ESD President, CEO and Commissioner Hope Knight said, "Manufacturing remains a critical driver of New York's economy, creating quality jobs and strengthening local communities. Caribbean Food Delights' expansion in Rockland County reflects the strength of New York's business environment and demonstrates how strategic investments can help companies increase production, create jobs and position themselves for long-term success."

Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council Co-Chairs Dr. Marsha Gordon and Dr. Kristine Young said, "For nearly five decades, Caribbean Food Delights has been an important employer and community partner in Rockland County. This expansion strengthens the company's roots in the Mid-Hudson region, creates new opportunities for local workers and reinforces the region's reputation as a great place for businesses to grow and thrive."

Caribbean Food Delights CEO Sabrina HoSang Jordan said, "This expansion was much needed as we outgrew the office space and employee welfare areas since we moved Caribbean Food Delights to Rockland County in 1994. We thank the MHREDC for their financial assistance with this expansion project and seeing the value in our vision."

ESD supported the project with up to $2.75 million in assistance through a capital grant and performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits.

Founded in 1978, Caribbean Food Delights has grown into a nationally recognized manufacturer of Caribbean-style frozen food products. The company distributes its products throughout the United States and internationally. The expansion project included improvements to the existing facility and the purchase of advanced production equipment designed to increase manufacturing capacity and improve operational efficiency.
