PLA Navy vessels set sail for ocean-going training and overseas visit mission

BEIJING, June 16 --On June 15, 2026, a Chinese PLA Navy taskforce, composed of training ship Qijiguang (Hull 83) and amphibious dock landing ship Kunlunshan (Hull 998), set sail from a naval port in Qingdao City, east China's Shandong Province, commencing an ocean-going training and overseas visit mission.

The taskforce carries over 400 faculty members and midshipmen for this mission, as well as more than 20 foreign military cadets from 10 countries, including Myanmar and Brazil.

During the voyage, the taskforce will carry out educational and training modules such as terrestrial navigation, celestial navigation, and role-specific practice, and will conduct on-site teaching and thematic lectures based on the waters they pass through.

Additionally, during its port calls to foreign countries, the taskforce will host activities including deck receptions, visits, and cultural exchanges.
